Evaluation Activity 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Firstly, before taking AS Media, I had never used or even looked at Blogger before, which is where we had to post our whole years process on. I didn't know how to post videos, images, links etc. I have learnt how to use blogger and posting on it, keeping a record of everything I do for the coursework while also being able to go back and edit the posts if need be.
I also was able to follow other blogs, such as my teachers, Mollie and Scarlet's.
Here I am posting the film opening onto my blog!

While filming our opening there was a lot of different technologies we used in order to produce it.
We used tripods in order to keep our camera steady and get a smooth shot. Here is a picture which I have taken of Scarlet using it.

Here I am filming with a tripod to keep the smooth  effect and grace of the performance.

However we also used handheld cameras to give a more edgy effect to our shots. The shots where Chrissy is in the toilets and taking the pills are where we have decided to not use a tripod to contrast with the areas where we have used tripods, which are the shots on stage as they are more graceful and need to be more steady.

We also used decided against using s tripod and instead just did handheld while following Chrissy through the corridor towards the stage in order to give more of a nervous, busy and slightly wobbly effect to it, again, in contradiction to the smoothness of the shots while the dancers are on stage.
Here in this photo, taken by Mollie, you can see Scarlet using the handheld camera while I am holding the lighting.

For the warmup shots we used a soft light in order to keep a light glow on the dancers and their feet as we wanted the light glow to contrast with the darkness of the performance and the brightness of the toilet shots. We took it in turns to hold the soft light on the floor in order for the light to closer to and shining better on the dancers feet. Here is a picture I have taken of Mollie doing just that.

In the theatre where we filmed the performance onstage there was a spotlight which we were able to use. We used that to follow Chrissy around on the stage and to make her stand out from the other ballerinas as she is the main protagonist of our film. We also used a spotlight for a shot we had  where the camera faced the spotlight shining directly at us.
Here is an image taken by Scarlet where I am using the spotlight.

I also was able to use iMovie on the Mac computers, which I hadn't used before my preliminary task. iMovie was useful as we were able to use many effects in our opening, such as transitions like 'fade to black' which made our opening look more professional.
Here is a screenshot of me using iMovie to edit the film opening.

After the editing we had to upload it to YouTube and again, before my preliminary task, I'd never done that. I have used YouTube a lot before and used it even more so throughout the course as we have been able to do film opening research on it and we used it to find our music for it. It has also been an easy way for us to access our video and also for us to share it in order to gain feedback.
Here is a screenshot of us uploading the video to Scarlet's YouTube account.

To share our film opening with friends and family, in order to show off our work and get a feed back for them, we decided to share the video on our social networking sights.
I shared our video on Facebook which other people could then share from, while Mollie took a screengrab of our video and posted it on Instagram.
This is me posting the link on my facebook.

Here is the post Mollie did on Instagram.
